Legal Notice & Terms of Use
Last updated: May 2026 · Application convoice.app
1. Service operator
Convoice is an independent service operated by an individual. It is not associated with any company, brand, or automotive manufacturer. Tesla® is a registered trademark of Tesla, Inc. Convoice is neither affiliated with nor endorsed by Tesla, Inc.
2. Nature of the service
Convoice is a real-time web application that allows electric-vehicle drivers to share their GPS location, exchange text messages, and communicate by voice in ephemeral channels — similar to CB radio.
The service is provided free of charge, with no sign-up and no user account required.
3. Data collected and processed
Convoice collects no personally identifiable information. Here is what is processed:
- GPS position — transmitted in real time to other channel members only. Not stored on the server. Disappears on disconnect.
- Text messages — relayed live to channel members. Not stored on the server. Ephemeral.
- Voice (WebRTC) — peer-to-peer connection wherever possible. The server only relays signalling (SDP/ICE) and never records audio.
- Connection metadata — chosen handle, channel code, connection timestamp and session duration — retained for up to 12 hours for maintenance purposes, then automatically deleted.
- Pinned messages (public channels only: CB and Superchargers) — short text notes (max 250 characters) that a user voluntarily makes visible to other channel members: charger status, useful tip, meeting point. Stored on the server for up to 48 hours and then automatically deleted. Maximum 5 concurrent pinned messages per channel (FIFO). No IP address is stored: anti-abuse uses a daily-rotating identifier that cannot be linked back to the user. Private channels (codes shared between friends) do not allow pinned messages — their content stays 100 % ephemeral.
Location privacy: to limit location precision, the application automatically applies a small random offset (±75 m) to displayed positions and a random delay (15–30 s) before each coordinate transmission to the server.
4. Cookies and local storage
The application uses only your browser's local storage (localStorage) to remember
your handle and recent channels, exclusively on your device.
No cookies are set. No trackers. No advertising networks.
5. Data sharing
No data is sold, shared, or transmitted to third parties. The only third-party component is OpenStreetMap / Overpass API for loading charging-station data — an anonymous request with no user data transmitted.
6. Hosting
The application is hosted on a private virtual server (VPS) in Europe. Standard server-side system logs (IP addresses, HTTP requests) may be temporarily retained by the hosting provider in accordance with their own policies.
7. Security and channels
No channel is password-protected. Whether it is public (CB), tied to a Supercharger, or "private" (a custom code shared between friends), it is technically accessible to anyone who knows its name. The channel code acts as an identifier, not a secret. Never share sensitive information (personal, financial, medical) through this application, and only disclose the name of a private channel to the people you want to be in it.
Communications are not end-to-end encrypted. The server relays messages in clear text between participants in the same channel.
8. Pinned-message moderation & reporting
Pinned messages are user-generated content temporarily hosted by the service. Every pinned message can be reported directly from the application via the 🚩 button shown next to it — a message receiving 3 distinct reports is automatically hidden.
For takedown requests, in particular regarding illegal, defamatory or rights-infringing content: contact@convoice.app. Removal is processed within 24 business hours of receiving the notice.
9. Liability
The service is provided "as is", without guarantee of availability or continuity. The operator shall not be held liable for any use made of it, in particular while driving. Never use your phone while driving. Convoice is designed for Tesla mode (in-car display) — mobile use outside the vehicle remains the user's sole responsibility.
10. Intellectual property
The Convoice source code is published under the MIT licence. Logos, visuals, and graphic assets remain the property of their respective authors.
