Legal Notice & Terms of Use

Last updated: September 2026 · Application convoice.app

1. Service operator

Convoice is an independent service operated by an individual. It is not associated with any company, brand, or automotive manufacturer. Tesla® is a registered trademark of Tesla, Inc. Convoice is neither affiliated with nor endorsed by Tesla, Inc.

2. Nature of the service

Convoice is a real-time web application that allows electric-vehicle drivers to share their GPS location, exchange text messages, and communicate by voice in ephemeral channels — similar to CB radio.

The service is provided free of charge, with no sign-up and no user account required.

3. Data collected and processed

Convoice collects no personally identifiable information. Here is what is processed:

Location privacy: in public channels (EV BAND and Superchargers) the server automatically applies a random offset to broadcast positions — roughly 200 m while driving (above 15 km/h) and 750 m at rest, with the offset's angle and distance re-drawn every minute so that averaging several samples cannot recover the true position. This decision is made server-side: your exact position never leaves the server on a public channel, including in the snapshot sent to someone joining the channel.

Two exceptions, by design:

4. Cookies and local storage

The application uses only your browser's local storage (localStorage) to remember your handle and recent channels, exclusively on your device. No cookies are set. No trackers. No advertising networks.

5. Data sharing

No data is sold or monetised, and no advertising tracker is used. Six third-party services take part in running the application:

6. Hosting

The application is hosted on a private virtual server (VPS) in Europe. Standard server-side system logs (IP addresses, HTTP requests) may be temporarily retained by the hosting provider in accordance with their own policies.

7. Security and channels

No channel is password-protected. Whether it is public (CB), tied to a Supercharger, or "private" (a custom code shared between friends), it is technically accessible to anyone who knows its name. The channel code acts as an identifier, not a secret. Never share sensitive information (personal, financial, medical) through this application, and only disclose the name of a private channel to the people you want to be in it.

Communications are not end-to-end encrypted. The server relays messages in clear text between participants in the same channel.

8. Pinned-message moderation & reporting

Pinned messages are user-generated content temporarily hosted by the service. Every pinned message can be reported directly from the application via the 🚩 button shown next to it — a message receiving 3 distinct reports is automatically hidden.

For takedown requests, in particular regarding illegal, defamatory or rights-infringing content: contact@convoice.app. Removal is processed within 24 business hours of receiving the notice.

9. Liability

The service is provided "as is", without guarantee of availability or continuity. The operator shall not be held liable for any use made of it, in particular while driving. Never use your phone while driving. Convoice is designed for Tesla mode (in-car display) — mobile use outside the vehicle remains the user's sole responsibility.

10. Intellectual property

The Convoice source code is published under the MIT licence. Logos, visuals, and graphic assets remain the property of their respective authors. Interface icons and flags use the Twemoji set, licensed under CC-BY 4.0.
